Orfee Schuijt ja Soile Voima: A hand is a hole is an eye

Tanssitaiteilijat Orfee Schuijt ja Soile Voima tutkivat esityksessään A hand is a hole is an eye keinoja kehollistaa kuvia ja tekstiä.

Meri Pajunpää: There will probably be some music, but we’ll manage to find a quiet corner where we can talk

Tanssitaiteilija Meri Pajunpään sooloprojekti There will probably be some music, but we’ll manage to find a quiet corner where we can talk on aikamatka sanojen, muistojen ja liikkeen maailmaan.

Orfee Schuijt and Soile Voima: A hand is a hole is an eye

In the performance A hand is a hole is an eye dance artists Orfee Schuijt and Soile Voima explore their capacity to embody images, text and invisible objects. By using their physicality as a tool to define or blur what is visible or invisible on stage they travel into imaginary fields, explore the limits between description and abstraction, and test the potential of reality. The performance questions how physical tasks enhance our sense of abstraction or imagination, and what becomes real when a dancer works with fictional spaces.

Concept, choreography and dance: Orfee Schuijt, Soile Voima
Sound design: Kim Myhr
Light design: Anttoni Halonen

The project is supported by the Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia, Nordic Culture Point, Nordic Culture Fund and Finnish-Norwegian Cultural Fund.

Meri Pajunpää: There will probably be some music, but we’ll manage to find a quiet corner where we can talk

Dance artist Meri Pajunpää’s solo project There will probably be some music, but we’ll manage to find a quiet corner where we can talk is a journey through time into the world of memories, movement and words. The book Silence (1961) by John Cage and recordings where Cage articulates his thoughts on sounds, life, wild mushroom hunting and on being a composer have worked as a source for inspiration on this solo. Pajunpää is willing to create a world on stage where the past, present and future are playing together through the language of the body and sound recordings. The maker is interested in giving the audience an opportunity to open their senses in front of the rugged soundscape and movement, and to re-evaluate themselves in relation to their surroundings and history.

Choreography and dance: Meri Pajunpää
Sound design: Ruben M. Orio

The solo has previously been processed in the residencies at Zodiak, Summer Studios, Akropoditi Dance Center and Workspace Brussels.
