Esitystaiteen keskus: Tashi Iwaoka: Body Plaza Workshop/Lab – ‘de-braining your body’
Performance artist Tashi Iwaoka conducts a 3 hour Body Plaza Workshop/Lab at Esitystaiteen Keskus in Helsinki on Sunday 18 August 2013.
In this Body Plaza Workshop/Lab Iwaoka gives the participants an opening for realising how our pre-conceptions of body is ‘thought orientated’ and limits the immanent abilities of the body. The body can be more free of these in fact. It is aimed at finding and realising our potential of being more ‘natural’ in our own movements. The body is much more than what we believe it to be, and for this purpose Iwaoka applies his martial arts practices into the workshop/lab.
The 3 hours consist of some bodywork based on eastern perspectives, such as Japanese style yoga or martial arts. Through these exercises the emphasis is given to increase one’s sensibility and receptivity of own body in relation to the others.
The workshop is open to everybody who is interested in searching and cultivating human potential to deepen our understanding of ourselves. However, some exercises may require a strong sense of physical commitment.
