Suvi Kemppainen: no, but very close to the bone

Suvi Kemppaisen soolo no, but very close to the bone on psykopoeettinen tanssiteos koreografisesta omistajuudesta, kotikaupungin luurangoista, ja sielunkumppanin viimeisestä punnerruksesta.

no, but very close to the bone jatkaa Suvi Kemppaisen teossarjaa (teething, 2021) esiintyjän toimijuudesta ja oikeuksista taiteellisessa prosessissa ja rakkauden potentiaalisesta tuhosta. Kysymykset ovat inspiroineet häntä liikkelliseen praktiikkaan, joka tarkastelee oman kehon luisen rakenteen omistamista ja toisaalta siitä luopumista. Kuka omistaa tanssitun tanssin? Kemppaisen työssä psykopoeettinen ruumis tarkoittaa tarkasti koreografioitua, assosiatiivista esiintyjäntyön matkaa, psyyken, tanssin ja tila-ajan runoutta.

Suvi Kemppainen on Berliinissä ja Helsingissä työskentelevä koreografi ja tanssija. Hänen taiteellinen praktiikkansa ankkuroituu somaattiseen psykodraamaan, ruumiin runouteen ja työskentelyn olosuhteiden artikuloimiseen suhteessa suostumukseen ja läpinäkyvyyteen.

Suvi Kemppainen: no, but very close to the bone

no, but very close to the bone by Suvi Kemppainen is a psychopoetic dance piece about momentary body archive, mental wealth and lovers’ last push up.

The piece is a continuation of Suvi Kemppainen’s series of work (teething, 2021) on performers agency and rights in artistic processes, and how a person of love is always also a destroyer. These questions have inspired Kemppainen towards a movement practice that is informed by the ownership of the body and its bones – and also the letting go of this ownership. Who owns a dance that has been danced? In Kemppainen’s work the psychopoetic body refers to a precisely choreographed, associative travel in the sphere of performance, deep into the psyche. The poetry of dance is also one of time and space.

Suvi Kemppainen is a choreographer and dancer based in Helsinki and Berlin. Kemppainen’s artistic practice anchors on somatic psychodrama, the poetry of the human body and an articulation of the circumstances of artistic work in relation to consent and transparency.
